Why let it bother you so much? No sense getting worked up over something so minor, especially on the internet of all places. I’m not gay and I can honestly say I wouldn’t be offended by it because what does it change exactly? At the end of the day you’re either gay or you’re not and if someone isn’t okay with that then fuck em. You’re entitled to your personal preferences and no one can take that away from you no matter how hard they try. Don’t let the little things get to you, life is easier that way.

Yes what they did was wrong and you defended yourself but what I’m trying to say is don’t let the small things get to you. They used your name without your permission but if you don’t react to it then they’ve accomplished nothing because it was clear what their intentions were. They were looking to get a rise out of you and you gave it to them through your post asking to change the tag.

My advice to you is too not sweat the small things, there’s always going to be that one asshole or that one person who’s out to get you but you know who you are and what you stand for, anything anyone says doesn’t even matter.

I went through that for years. I came out the other side fairly well, but with some extremely odd mannerisms and an incredibly aware sense of self. And a huge chip on my shoulder for a while about using homosexual slurs. As with a lot of things in life it does die off if you let it and focus on other things, eventually the sting goes away and you just start judging people based upon their words and actions and avoiding certain people when you can avoid it.

But... during the years when it was happening (which, btw, was strangely before I started wearing skirts or regularly keeping my hair in a bun), it led to a lot of depression and some personal decisions that still trail me around even to this day. But I had some great friends, and found a community and school that encouraged me to be me, and I never really looked back.

That said, I understand that specific feeling, better than I would like to.

I apologize for the stupid tag line. It wasn’t me, and it likely wasn’t meant to be as offensive as it was, but, I still would like to apologize for it. We’re better than that, as a community and as moderators.

Perhaps I should have been a bit more specific, I dont like it when people assume or spread rumors about me that isnt true. Its not about sexuality, but specifically romantic things. For instance, the kids at my old high school would make rumors that I was dating several of my friends, both male and female. Im not gay and Im perfectly comfortable with my sexuality, its when people assume falsities (word?) about me, thats what bugs me. I guess that tagline just brought back some of that sting from high school (I do consider Logansteno a friend and I talk with him In a Facebook chat often). And thank you for your apology. I always enjoy talking with you

I’m guessing it has to do with stages of life and self confinence. If someone called me gay now I would probably be all “Oh yeah, come here big boy” and laugh it off, but when I was in my teens it might have affected me more.

There were many things said about me that weren’t true, but I always snickered when I saw them... and didn’t really care. Being offended by this smells a bit like homophobia.

It does. But you and I have had many more years under our belts, and I think both of us are a tad thick skinned when it comes to the opinions of others (especially internet strangers). So perhaps our perspective is a bit different as well.

The oppo of old wouldn’t have even remembered an incident like this. Then again, we had Spiegel.
